But thanks to science and technology which has contributed a lot to protect our heart from deadly conditions. An artificial heart is one among such contributions. This artificial heart dates back to 1950s and it was Dr. Paul Winchell who patented the first artificial heart. However it was first implanted by Dr. Barney Clark in 1982 and the heart was called as jarvik-7, designed by Robert jarvik.
